Celebrate the New Year at CityWalk
We know what you are probably thinking-it's too early to talk about New Year's Eve! But the reality is Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and as soon as that’s over its full speed ahead on the rest of the year’s holidays. The Orlando theme parks are already gearing up for what’s after their holiday celebrations. New Year’s Eve usually draws huge crowds to Universal Orlando Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort, but the celebrations are well worth the wait! You can expect amazing fireworks displays, free party favors and an overall feeling of excitement like never before at the parks. Everyone is enjoying their time on the great rides, but you can feel the anticipation building as the hours pass and the clock approaches midnight. So what will happen as the sun sets and the party gets started? Well, over at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, the resort has booked two legendary musical acts to get 2010 started right! Legendary Motown acts The Temptations and The Four Seasons will be providing an incredible medley of music the entire family can enjoy. You can expect to hear “Baby, I Need Your Loving” and “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” from the Four Seasons and hits like “My Girl” and “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” by The Temptations along with other songs that will keep you dancing all night. Champagne toasts and party favors will be handed out and we hear they have an amazing buffet for everyone that attends the party. Some of CityWalk’s hottest nightclubs will be participating in the event. Red Coconut and Pat O’ Brien’s will be joining in on the New Year’s Eve festivities as well. Considering you can check out all of the rides at both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure during the day with your discount Universal tickets¸ attending the New Year’s Eve party at night would be a great way to end your day and welcome in a new year. If you plan on being in the Orlando area for the New Year, come to CityWalk’s celebration!
Space Mountain Ready to Launch
Out of all the great Orlando theme parks, we are sure you have a favorite. There are so many options; from the Universal Orlando Resort to the Walt Disney World Resort and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. But despite the magic of the theme parks, sometimes they have to close certain rides in order to update them and make them better for you. Over at the Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain had been closed for seven months while it underwent maintenance and got a bit of a makeover. Out of all the mountains at the Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain is one of the favorites and always has a long line. You won’t have to wait much longer to ride it though, because the rollercoaster officially reopens November 22nd! Disney is currently having a “soft opening,” meaning it’s testing the ride with guests and cast members while it figures out any kinks and puts the final touches on the space-themed ride. If you’re wondering what’s in store for the Magic Kingdom favorite, OrlandoFunTickets.com has the scoop! Let’s start off with the queue where you wait in line. Instead of having to make small talk or count the Mickey ears on the guests, there are now 87 video game stations for you to play with and kill time. The video games will have guests doing a number of tasks that not only help with boredom, but with storyline as well. You are now part of a crew helping to clear asteroids from the runway, look through items lost during space travel, move cargo, and expand a space station. Once those tasks are done you go on to the loading station of the ride which now has a ceiling-like overhang to keep everyone in the dark. The Disney Imagineers want you all to feel as though you’re really in outer space, so even the glowing strips on the sides of the rockets are gone. Once you get on board, prepare for a thrilling experience with a brand new tunnel entrance of disorienting flashing lights. The purpose of the light is to disguise yet another new feature- the flash of a camera! Now you’ll be able to keep your Space Mountain memory using the Disney PhotoPass system. We’re sure you just as excited about the Space Mountain re-opening as we are—November 22nd is only a few days away! Considering Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is also going on now, Disney couldn’t have picked a better time to refresh this classic coaster.
SeaWorld Holiday Magic!!!!
SeaWorld is one of the most beloved marine life parks in the world. Not only does it provide amazing entertainment and great roller coasters, it’s also home to the famous killer whale Shamu and a wildlife research institute that has saved many animals, helped propagate endangered species and come up with new technology to help marine life that is sick. Shamu and SeaWorld go hand in hand, the killer whale is the ultimate symbol of the beautiful park---but do you ever think of SeaWorld and Christmas? It’s kind of hard to imagine having a winter wonderland in a park that focuses on the animals of the ocean or any of the Orlando theme parks, but every holiday season SeaWorld transforms into a holiday experience people of all ages can enjoy. It starts off with an incredible Christmas tree that reaches high into the sky at 32 feet. There are garlands and twinkling Christmas lights that surround the park and reflect off the lake, truly making the park experience magical. At night the guests can enjoy the Waterfront Christmas stroll. You’ll hear wonderful live holiday music as you walk by beautiful lights and decorations on your way to meet Santa Shamu and take a special holiday picture. But the experience that brings the most holiday magic to Sea World has to be The Polar Express Experience. Just like the beloved story, which was awarded the prestigious Caldecott Medal, The Polar Express Experience will transport your kids to the North Pole where they will get to meet Santa Claus himself. The park’s Wild Arctic section will welcome kids to a North Pole full of adorable walruses, polar bears and beluga whales for an experience they’ll never forget! If you would rather experience the holidays in the islands, you can also stop by the Makahiki Christmas Luau. Experience a Polynesian feast, hula and fire dancing all infused with a holiday twist as the classic SeaWorld attraction gets into the holiday spirit. The holiday fun begins November 13th at SeaWorld Orlando and runs all the way until January 3rd. The Polar Express Experience and the Makahiki Christmas Luau are just a few of the great holiday activities SeaWorld Orlando has in store. Stay tuned for more!
