Disney Wide World of Sports Complex
Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex is a 220-acre complex that features playing fields for all sports, including football, basketball, baseball, tennis, softball and more. This area of the Walt Disney World Resort has grown immensely in the last few years as its popularity has risen due to hosting big-time events. Not only is Disney’ Wide World of Sports Complex home to Spring Training for Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, it also hosts training camp for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NBA Pre-Draft Camp and tons of other premium events throughout the year. But possibly the biggest draw for the complex is still the number of amateur events it hosts throughout the year, bringing hundreds of thousands of young athletes to the Walt Disney World Resort each year. In total, more than 170 amateur and professional events make their home at Disney Wide World of Sports Complex on an annual basis. As we mentioned above, the Atlanta Braves have made this complex their Spring Training home for 10 years now. Each spring, thousands of fans come out to see the squad take on some of the best teams in MLB in an intimate 7,500-seat stadium. Ticket prices range from for general admission seats to $ 22.50 for lower level reserved seats. To purchase Spring Training tickets, you can call 407-839-3900 once the MLB preseason schedule is released. There is an admission charge to enter Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, but it varies depending on the event that you are attending. Parking is always free at the complex as well, and since this area is in a non-congested part of the Walt Disney World Resort, it is pretty easy to get in and out of, especially for the non-premium events (Braves games may see a bit of traffic build-up). Hotel guests that are staying on property can take bus service to get here, and if you are coming in by car, there is a direct exit off of Interstate 4 that will lead you right to the complex. While at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, you may need some fuel to recharge your batteries after a long day of athletics competition. The Official All Star Café is the answer to all of your hunger needs, as this sports-themed restaurant combines good American cuisine with the thrill of sports. While you dine on classic such as the Philly cheese steak or buffalo wings, you can feast your eyes on over 20 big screens that display sporting events from around the world. Whether you are stopping by in between innings or just coming in for the good food and atmosphere, the Official All Star Café is a homerun in more than one sense of the word!
