Epcot®, the second park built at the
Walt Disney World® Resort, was one of Walt Disney’s visions before he passed away in 1966. Walt’s vision was for
Epcot® (the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) to be a futuristic city, and while
Epcot® today is not exactly what Walt had in mind in terms of an actual city, the overall concept of
Epcot® stays true to his vision, as it is a showcase of international culture and technological innovation.
Epcot® eventually opened its gates on October 1, 1982, and was originally named
Epcot® Center until the name was changed to just
Epcot® in 1983.
