Hidden Mickeys at Disneys Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

The Walt Disney World Resort has been known to create new fads throughout the years – think pin trading, park hopping – and, last but not least – hidden Mickey spotting. Hidden Mickeys are non-descript objects in and around the Walt Disney World Resort that form the shapes of Mickey heads. Legend has it that hidden Mickeys first started in the 1980’s in Epcot by Imagineers who thought it would be fun to add these objects in and around the park. After the idea caught fire – and the attention of guests who spotted this hidden homage to Mickey Mouse – Imagineers began to incorporate hidden Mickeys into every area of the Walt Disney World Resort, and still continue to do so today. And while there is no official “list” of hidden Mickeys, there are hundreds of web sites and even entire books devoted to the topic, and many people visit the parks solely in search of seeing these popular images and discovering never-before-seen hidden Mickeys.

However, if you are one of the regulars who frequently go in search of hidden Mickeys, or if are just beginning your search, you are going to need tickets to access the Walt Disney World theme parks to begin your quest! We at OrlandoFunTickets.com are here to not only help you find these hidden Mickeys, but also to give you a special discounted rate on tickets into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Epcot, Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and all of the other local attractions in Central Florida, including Universal Orlando and Sea World Orlando. Now that you have your tickets lined up, it is time to spot those hidden Mickeys! While there are hundreds of hidden Mickeys littered around the four Walt Disney World theme parks, there are many that are highly recognizable to the Disney faithful. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is home to many of these hidden Mickey staples, as there are hidden Mickeys in nearly every shop and attraction in the park. Not only is this theme park a place to go in search of unique animals – it is now also a great place to go in search of hidden Mickeys! Here is a look at some of the most popular hidden Mickeys that you won’t want to miss!

  • The first hidden Mickeys at this park can be spotted before you even enter the gates. On the rightmost ticket sales booth, look for stones that make out a classic Mickey shape. There is also another one located on the left side of the leftmost ticket booth near the ground – half of his head is coming out of the ground, and from there his ears are easy to spot.
  • Inside the Tree of Life, there is a classic hidden Mickey located to the upper left of the handicapped-accessible doors that lead to the It’s Tough to be a Bug attraction.
  • At the Festival of the Lion King, if you are sitting in the elephant section, look directly in front of you on the bottom of the stage just to the right of the steps – an indented hidden Mickey appears to be carved in “stone” on the stage!
  • On the Kilimanjaro Safaris, about halfway through the ride you will pass by “flamingo island” to the left of your vehicle. This island in the middle of the pond forms a hidden Mickey. Also on this ride, one of the rock formations in the lion’s area is believed to be in the shape of Donald Duck’s face!
  • See if you can spot the following hidden Mickeys that were incorporated into the Expedition Everest attraction: in the standby line, just past the first room in the queue, a hidden Mickey appears on the base of a Yeti statue in a sunken courtyard; also in the standby line just past the first room, you will wrap around a red Yeti temple with a mural painted on it – Hidden Mickeys can be found on the left and right sides of the mural in the clouds; right before you exit Tashi’s Trek and Tongba Shop in the queue line, take a careful look in the cupboards in the corner on your right – on the top shelf is a yeti wearing Mickey ears; just past this yeti doll, you can also spot another classic Mickey formed by light switches in a glass case; and as the train is climbing the mountain, a hidden Mickey is formed by snow that has melted away to the left of the tracks.
  • On the right side of the children’s dig area inside The Boneyard in Dinoland U.S.A., a fan and two hard hats form a hidden Mickey. Also, just inside the entrance to The Boneyard, you will see a reddish-brown water stain on the flooring under the water fountain in the play area.
  • On the Primeval Whirl ride, there are hidden Mickeys located on the meteors that are placed throughout the ride (hint: one is under the “Head for the Hills” sign, while another is located over the “Primeval Whirl” sign).
  • On DINOSAUR, look to the wall on the left of your vehicle just as the ride starts – a hidden Mickey appears on the lower left corner of a dry erase board.
  • Near the entrance to the Mombassa Marketplace, you will find a hidden Mickey formed on the ground – a utility cover is Mickey’s head, while pebbles around the cover and above it outline the head and form the ears. This can best be found on the path on the side that faces the Tusker House Restaurant & Bakery.
  • There are nearly 40 hidden Mickeys (maybe even more) at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. While we can’t list them all out here, pay special attention to hidden Mickeys in murals, tree trunks, paintings and more!
