Hidden Mickeys at the Resorts

The Walt Disney World Resort has been known to create new fads throughout the years – think pin trading, park hopping – and, last but not least – hidden Mickey spotting. Hidden Mickeys are non-descript objects in and around the Walt Disney World Resort that form the shapes of Mickey heads. Legend has it that hidden Mickeys first started in the 1980’s at Epcot by Imagineers who thought it would be fun to add these objects in and around the park. After the idea caught fire – and the attention of guests who spotted this hidden homage to Mickey Mouse – Imagineers began to incorporate hidden Mickeys into every area of the Walt Disney World Resort, and still continue to do so today. And while there is no official “list” of hidden Mickeys, there are hundreds of web sites and even entire books devoted to the topic, and many people visit the parks solely in search of seeing these popular images and discovering never-before-seen hidden Mickeys.

Whether you are interested in coming down to Central Florida to go in search of hidden Mickeys, or if just want to experience all of the magic inside the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, you are going to need tickets to access everything! We at OrlandoFunTickets.com are here to not only help you find hidden Mickeys, but we also offer special discounted rates on tickets into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Epcot, Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and all of the other local attractions in Central Florida, including Universal Orlando and Sea World Orlando. Now that you have begun your vacation planning, it is time to spot those hidden Mickeys! While hidden Mickeys may have originated in the Walt Disney World theme parks, they are by no means limited to the four main parks only. In fact, there are hundreds of hidden Mickeys located throughout Walt Disney World, from the Downtown Disney area to the two water parks and even the resorts on property. And don’t worry – even if you are not staying at a particular resort, you can still resort-hop around Walt Disney World to spot all of these hidden Mickeys. Or, we encourage you to go on a hunt at your particular resort to find even more hidden Mickeys – and remember, Cast Members are a great tool for spotting hidden Mickeys, so use them! While there are some hidden Mickeys that are pretty standard throughout all of the resorts (including shelves in the rooms with Mickey cutouts on each side and nearly every bedspread/comforter features hidden Mickeys as well), here is a look at some more of the most popular hidden Mickeys at the Disney resorts to get you started!

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Outside, above the lower roof, there is a hidden Mickey in the mouth of the second tall outdoor statue to the left of the car baggage drop-off area. Another hidden Mickey can be found on the mural on the right wall between the outer and inner entrance doors to the main lobby on the back of an orange and brown creature. Once inside the main lobby, look near the bottom of the second chandelier on the right for another hidden Mickey. Also pay special attention to the banded wood logs located throughout the lodge – there are tons of places where these logs form a hidden Mickey!
  • Disney’s All-Star Sports – On the carpet in the main lobby gift shop, look for hidden Mickeys in the pattern on the floor – a baseball is Mickey’s head and two circles form his ears.
  • Disney’s All-Star Music – In the jazz courtyard, classic Mickey ears are placed on top of all of the cymbal stands. Hidden Mickeys can also be found on the huge boots in the country fair area. In the new family suites at this resort, hidden Mickeys also dot the carpet!
  • Disney’s All-Star Movies – Hidden Mickeys can be found on the large checkers in Andy’s room in the “Toy Story” section. Hidden Mickeys are also on some of the drapes found at this resort.
  • Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – Look for Mickey’s ears as part of the design over the bar at Francisco’s Lounge inside the main building. At the Dig Site, you will find a hidden Mickey near the top of the Mayan pyramid on the side that faces the pool. It is located on the fourth row from the top and the second stone from the left. Another unique hidden Mickey at this resort is featured on some of the bus stop signs. These signs have cutouts of buses with people in each window – and Mickey Mouse is in one of the windows!
  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort – The first hidden Mickey is located at the children’s TV area near the check-in at the main lobby. To the right of the TV is a painting on the wall of a fish tank with two orange fish – see if you can spot the hidden Mickey among the fish bubbles! You can also find hidden Mickeys carved into the floor in the food court area. One can be found in front of the middle cash register, while another is near the merchandise stand in the middle of the order and check-out area.
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort – On the back of the lighthouse at Old Port Royale, there is a hidden Mickey between the words “boat” and “yard” on the sign that says “Barefoot Bay Boat Yard.” Hidden Mickeys can also be found on window and shower curtains in the guest rooms!
  • Disney’s Old Key West Resort – Behind the check-in area in the registration area, hidden Mickeys are part of the design on the fence railings on the wall. At the new sand castle pool slide, the opening at the end of the slide into the pool is a large Mickey with ears. If you are walking from the parking lot to building 36, there are two paths that each have a very unique hidden Mickey – instead of regular round shapes forming his head and ears, three shell imprints make up this hidden Mickey!
  • Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter – In the food court area, there is a large crown hanging from the ceiling on the right side of the seating area. Look closely at the crown and you will see upside down hidden Mickeys made up of blue (his face) and white (his ears) gemstones. In the guest bedrooms, the seat covers also have a classic hidden Mickey in the pattern.
  • Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside – Above the registration area, check out the hidden Mickeys in the latticework detail that encircles the lobby. In the food court, look at the Indian in the corner next to the queue line – on top of both of his shoes is a hidden Mickey.
  • Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort – In the hallway that leads to the Turf Club, there is a pink jacket in a frame that has classic Mickeys all over it. Once you enter the Turf Club, look at the first display on the left to find Mickey and other characters on billiard balls. Outside of the main lobby, you will find a statue of a horse and a rider – the gear on both sides of the horse’s mouth form a hidden Mickey. The room décor at Saratoga Springs also has tons of hidden Mickeys on different pieces of furniture and on patterns of fabric as well.
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Inn – In the main lobby, one of the outside white horses on the small carousel has brown spots all over him – two of which form hidden Mickeys. Hidden Mickeys are also located throughout the resort on the carpet – larger Mickeys are located in front of elevators, while smaller ones are featured in the guest hallways. At the sign over the entrance to Seashore Sweets, there is a cloud in the sky that is a hidden Mickey next to the head of the woman on the left.
  • Disney’s Beach Club – In the solarium in the main lobby, the paintings on the walls are full of hidden Mickeys, including: the first painting on the wall to the left has Mickey’s face on the spare tire on the back of the car. Mickey hood ornaments also adorn the blue and red cars on the right. In the second painting on the left, look for a hidden Mickey in the clouds in the upper right corner. Hidden Mickeys are also found on wallpaper throughout the resort, on carpet and on guest room paintings.
  • Disney’s Yacht Club – On the globe in the middle of the lobby, look for the sea monster below the island of Madagascar. There is a blue hidden Mickey directly below this creature. Also in the lobby, there is a cabinet in the seating area with the names of Mickey and his friends on each of the drawers!
  • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – On the road that leads to the Wilderness Lodge, there is a sign on the right side of the road that says “Bear Crossing.” A full length Mickey is walking with a bear on top of this sign. Another hidden Mickey is located in a group of bushes across from the valet parking area in the middle of the front landscaping. As you approach the front lobby, the car unloading area is supported by large wooden poles, many of which have hidden Mickeys etched on them. In the lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you will also find a hidden Mickey on the rock in the corner of the upper right of the fireplace.
  • Disney’s Polynesian Resort – As you enter the front lobby, look for a hidden Mickey in the tiles a few feet in front of the waterfall. There are also various Mickey patterns located on the carpet throughout the resort, from the first and second floor in the lobby to the guest hallways. Hidden Mickeys can also be found in various paintings, on lamps and on pieces of furniture in the guest bedrooms.
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – You can spot six hidden Mickeys right away in the carpet of the lobby – these are located in the center circle of the red and gold designs on the carpet. As with most of the other resorts, the carpet and wallpaper throughout also feature hidden Mickey designs
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort – From the window of the California Grill restaurant, you can spot a hidden Mickey (almost appears as a watch) amongst the trees that line the front of the resort. Out back of the resort, there is a Mickey sculpture that features half of Mickey’s head and his ears that you can sit in – look below this sculpture to find a hidden Mickey on the pavement below!
